POISONOUS PARTS: All parts when fresh. TOXIC IF EATEN IN LARGE QUANTITIES. Symptoms include inflammation and blistering upon contact with fresh sap and irritation of the mouth, vomiting and diarrhea following ingestion. (Poisonous Plants of N.C.) This plant my be 5-7 flowered.(E-Flora BC) As well as the above areas, it may be found on rocky limestone ridges, moist prairie depressions and sandhill shrublands. (Flora of North America) The basal leaves are silky to the touch. The sepals may be any of the colours above, but unlike Anemone multifida var. saxicola they are white and yellow inside.(Flora of North America) Aboriginals used anemone multifida (no varieties specified) medicinally as an antirheumatic, cold remedy, nosebleed cure, and general panacea, as well as a means of killing lice and fleas.
