In B.C. found at low to mid elevations; south coast, Gulf Islands, Fraser Canyon and sporadic in the interior. Plants can harbour a stage of white pine blister rust, so should not be grown in the vicinity of pine trees. Otherwise red-flowering currant is one of the easiest and most rewarding shrubs to grow in a garden.
