Interesting Tidbits
The fruits of this cranberry ripen rather late in the year. By happy coincidence, they are usually ready for harvesting around the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday, just in time to a superb sauce for turkey. They are too tart to eat raw, although they become sweeter after being exposed to frost. The are quite high in vitamin C and very flavorful after being sweetened with sugar or honey. (Edible Wild Fruits and Nuts of Canada) Introduced to BC; not native. (Nature Serve)
