Launch of the Network: Toronto Zoo Planting Day

On Friday, October 14, 2022, the Network of Nature was officially launched. Representitives from Dougan & Associates, Canadian Geographic, TD, the Toronto Zoo, and Green Communities Canada along with volunteers gathered at the Toronto Zoo grounds to plant the first "mini forest" as part of this Canada-wide initiaitve.

A team of 50 volunteers planted almost 900 native trees and shrubs in about 5 hours, battling through hail, wind, and rain to get the job done. Despite some periods of bad weather, energy and spirits were high as people were excited to be a part of this inaugural planting event.

The mini forest planting at the Toronto Zoo marks the first of many native plant forests to be planted across the county. Do you have an idea of where we should plant next? Contact us and let us know!
